SDS - Viewing Data Distribution Alarms

The system generates a minor alarm after the number of SDS data distribution errors (as reported by the SDS Distribution Errors form) exceeds 100, and a major alarm after the number exceeds 1000. There is no Critical alarm for such errors. Fewer than 100 errors results in a warning in the Alarm Status area at the top of the System Administration Tool.

Both alarms are cleared by resolving the pending updates. After the number of errors falls below the threshold level the system will clear the alarm.

SDS data distribution errors are typically caused by the following error conditions:

  • the device associated with the data distribution error is not programmed properly on the remote controller

  • a required feature or feature option is not enabled on the remote controller.

  • the network connection to the remote controller is down (results in a large number of errors).

Data Distribution alarms are displayed in the Alarm Status area and in the Alarms Details form.

The Alarm Status area cycles through the display of Data Distribution alarms and alarms for licensing violations and the system in general. While a Data Distribution alarm is displaying (once every 10 seconds or so if there are other types of alarms present), you can click it to get to the SDS Shared Data Update All form where more details on the alarm are provided.

NOTE: If the Auto Reach-Through button is enabled (applies to Multi-node Management environments only), clicking the alarm will take you to the SDS Distribution Errors form on the remote system.

The maximum number of updates that can accumulate is 60,000. After the 60,000 limit is reached, the system will prevent you from making any further changes to the records in the shared forms. In addition, any changes to telephone user data through the telephone user interface (TUI) will not be shared between the primary and secondary controllers.

Before the system will allow you to start making changes again, you must reduce the number of updates in the SDS Distribution Errors form (see Resolving Pending Updates or Errors).
